Forever happy together

The house was unusually quiet for a Kim family evening.

Not silent—just settled.

The big living room glowed under warm yellow lights. Curtains half-drawn, windows open to the night breeze, the low hum of the city blending with soft laughter. Everyone was there. No meetings to rush to. No lectures to prepare. No surgeries scheduled. No deadlines chasing them.

Just family.

Nam sat cross-legged on the rug with a cup of tea he had already forgotten to drink. Jin leaned against the sofa arm, glasses slipping slightly down his nose, watching his children with the satisfied calm of someone whose life’s biggest prayers had been answered.

Suga was stretched out on the couch, one arm behind his head, pretending he wasn’t listening—but reacting to every joke anyway. Jimin sat beside him, legs tucked in, absently playing with the hem of his sweater. Hobi laughed loudly at something Bogum whispered. Lisa and IU shared a blanket, whispering and giggling like college girls again.

And at the center of it all—

Tae and Kookie sat on the floor, shoulders touching, knees drawn up, hands unconsciously linked. Comfortable. Easy. Like they had lived a thousand lives together and finally found the quiet one they deserved.

Jin looked around, eyes soft.

Tum logon ko yaad hai,” he said slowly, voice heavy with warmth,
jab tum sb chhote the...? Kitni badmashi krte the..... ”

Everyone fell quiet.

Nam smiled faintly.
“abhi bhi yeh vaise hi hai.”

“Sach mein,” IU added.
school University ke corridors, secret relationships, drama, fights…”

Lisa laughed.
“Fights ka credit main nahi loongi. Woh mostly yoonmin ka hai.”

Suga scoffed.
“Excuse me?”

Jimin turned toward him instantly.
Excuse you.”

Before things could spiral, Kookie burst out laughing.
“Wait wait,” she said, wiping her eyes.
Mujhe ek cheez yaad aa gayi.”

She nudged Tae, “Woh fight.”

Tae froze, “Kaunsi fight?”

Everyone spoke at once.
ICONIC WALI.”
“Bedroom fight!”
“Legendary!”
“Trauma-inducing!”

Jin’s eyes lit up with mischief.

“Oh ho,” he said, sitting straighter.
“Wahi na… jis din poora ghar ka temperature gir gaya tha.”

Namjoon chuckled.
“Neighbours tak sun rahe the.”

Jimin groaned.
“Please don’t.”

Suga muttered,
“Mujhe abhi bhi PTSD hai.”

Jin looked directly at Tae and Kookie.
Toh,” she said sweetly,
aaj … tum dono mimicry kar do.”

The room went silent for exactly one second.

Then—

OH NO,” suga muttered.“PLEASE NO.”

Jimin crossed her arms, “Don’t you dare.”

Namjin exchanged a look.

Jin grinned, “Tae… Kookie…”

Nam nodded solemnly, “Demonstration.”

Tae blinked, “Kya?”

Kookie’s eyes widened,“Mumma—”

YES!” Hobi clapped.
Front row!”

Phones allowed?” Bogum asked.

NO PHONES,” Jimin warned.
“This stays in the family.”

Tae leaned toward Kookie, whispering,
“Hum nahi kar rahe.”

She whispered back, eyes sparkling,
“Kar rahe hain.”

The entire family cheered.
YESSS!”
“DO IT!”
“ICONIC ONE!”

Suga buried his face in his hands.
I raised fools,” he sighed.

They stood up.

Kookie straightened her posture, instantly slipping into character—arms crossed, chin raised, eyes sharp.

Tae rolled his shoulders, jaw tightening, expression transforming into dramatic annoyance.

The room went silent.

Then—

Kookie (dramatically):
Aankhen mat dikhao… main tumhari patni hoon.”

Tae snapped back without missing a beat:
Aisi patni gayi bhad mein—nikal jao mere kamre se.”

The family lost it already.

“OH MY GOD,” IU gasped.
Same tone!”

Jimin buried his face in his hands.

Kookie pointed accusingly.
Tum niklo!”

Tae stepped forward.
Yeh kamra mera hai.”

She didn’t even pause.
Yeh ghar mera hai.”

Suga choked on his drink.

Tae crossed his arms, voice louder.
“Main iss ghar ka malik hoon.”

Kookie flipped her  hair.
“Main iss ghar ki malkin hoon.”

Jin was laughing so hard he had to hold Nam’s arm.

Tae gestured dramatically toward an imaginary door.
“Saddo yahan se—”

Tae suddenly softened, blinking exaggeratedly, Sorry.”

The entire room screamed.

WAIT WAIT,” Hobi laughed,“THIS PART"

Kookie tilted her head,“Theek se bolo na.”

Tae muttered, defeated, Sorry.”

Kookie smiled sweetly, It’s okay.”

Silence.

Then—

The house exploded.

Laughter echoed off the walls. Jin laughed until tears slipped from his eyes. Namj leaned back, shaking his head. IU and Lisa clutched each other, wheezing. Bogum was on the floor. Hobi applauded like he had just seen a Broadway show.

Even Suga was laughing—quietly, but genuinely.

Jimin finally looked up, cheeks flushed, shaking his head.

“Tum dono… pagal ho,” he said, smiling despite himself.

Tae dropped onto the floor beside Kookie, burying his face in his hands.

Hobi was on the floor, literally rolling.
Lisa clutched IU, screaming, “THIS IS BETTER THAN NETFLIX.”
Kids laughed without even fully understanding—because happiness is contagious.

Jimin stared at them, horrified.
“WE WERE NOT THAT DRAMATIC.”

Suga didn’t even look up.
“Yes. We were.”

Jin watched them all—her sons, daughters, her family—and felt something settle peacefully in her chest.
You all achieved everything,” he said softly, “Jo chaha, jo sapna dekha… sab.”

Nam nodded.
Par sabse important… hum humesha sath hai..... Forever happy together.”

Jin smiled, eyes shining.
“Wahi toh asali jeet hai.”

Outside, the city lights shimmered. Inside, warmth wrapped around them like a familiar blanket.

They had grown up.They had fought.
They had loved. They had built lives bigger than they ever imagined.

And yet—

They were still the same chaotic family, laughing on the floor, teasing old wounds into stories, turning fights into legends.

Kookie squeezed Tae’s hand.He squeezed back.Home wasn’t quiet.Home was them.

And this—

This was their   happy ending.
