The Kim mansion had changed its rhythm.
Earlier, mornings started with Namjoon’s calls, Jin’s instructions, Hobi’s laughter echoing through corridors, Suga’s coffee routine, Taehyung’s slow steps, and Jimin humming softly while arranging her day.
Now—
everything revolved around two tiny schedules.-:
Feed times,Nap times,Diaper changes.
And sudden crying at the most inconvenient moments. Yet, somehow, the house never felt tired of it.
Yoonmin was eight months old when Baby Taekook turned three.
They shared a large sunny room, their cradles placed opposite each other.
Yoonmin had already mastered sitting, crawling, and pulling herself up using furniture. Baby Taekook was still in his soft, floppy phase—tiny fists, blinking eyes, confused expressions.
Every morning, the first thing Yoonmin did was crawl toward her brother’s cradle. She would sit there, holding the railing, staring.
Sometimes she babbled.Sometimes she tried to poke him.Sometimes she just… watched.
Kookie noticed it first.
“She comes here before even looking for her toys,” Kookie said one morning, adjusting Taekook’s blanket.
Jimin smiled, sitting nearby with a cup of tea., “Haan.... Jaise iski yeh duty ho.”
Suga passed by, paused, and looked at Yoonmin sitting like a tiny guard.
“Security detail,” he muttered.
“No one Will touche my brother.”
Yoonmin slapped the railing proudly.
Kookie was everywhere.Not loudly.
Not dramatically.Just… present.
She was the one who sang absent-mindedly while rocking Taekook.
The one who let Yoonmin pull her hair without complaining.
The one both babies calmed down with.
It became noticeable to everyone.
Jin once whispered to Namjoon,
“Yeh dono usko dekh ke hi shaant ho jaate hain.”
Nam nodded.
“she's peace.... center of affection"
Even Tae noticed.
One afternoon, when Taekook was crying uncontrollably in Tae’s arms, Kookie walked in.She didn’t rush.
She simply leaned over, touched the baby’s cheek. The crying slowed.Stopped.
Tae looked at his son. Then at his wife.
“…Wow,” he said quietly.
Kookie just smiled
By nine months, Yoonmin had developed a habit. If Taekook cried, she crawled faster than anyone.
Yoonmin crawled clumsily toward her brother. Her movement was slow, unbalanced, but determined.
Jimin noticed instantly.
“Yoonmin, dheere—”
Once, Hobi tried to pick Taekook up during his crying spell.
Yoonmin crawled straight in between.
Sat down.Placed her tiny hand on Taekook’s blanket.Glared at Hobi.
Hobi froze.
“…Okay,” he said slowly.
“I’ll just… stand here.”
Suga burst out laughing.
“Permission lena padega ab.”
Yoonmin ignored everyone and patted the blanket—awkward, uncoordinated, but determined. The crying stopped.
Jimin covered her mouth, eyes misting.
“Usne seekh liya.... How to calm him"
Nam smiled quietly."Elder sister instinct.”
Yoonmin leaned forward and placed her forehead against her brother’s head.
The room went silent.Kookie’s chest tightened.Kookie sat cross-legged on the rug, arms open.“Yoonmin… idhar aao.”
The baby turned instantly. Her face lit up.
She abandoned her brother (after one final glance, just to make sure he was fine) and crawled straight toward Kookie.
Jin whispered, “Dekha? Sabse zyada isko hi dhoondti hai.”
Yoonmin reached Kookie and immediately
grabbed her dupatta.
“Meri jaan—” Kookie laughed softly, lifting her.
Yoonmin snuggled into her chest.
Taekook, from the blanket, let out a small cry.Kookie extended one hand automatically.
“Sshh… mama is here.”
Both babies calmed.
Nam shook his head.
“she’s everyone’s peace....”
Tae lay flat on the rug, acting as a human playground.
Yoonmin sat on his chest.Taekook lay beside his arm.Tae moved his eyebrows dramatically.Yoonmin giggled.Taekook blinked.Tae made a soft growling sound.
Yoonmin laughed louder.Taekook waved his hand.Kookie stood nearby, watching with folded arms.
She smiled—small, tired, content.
Hobi whispered,
“Yeh aadmi professor kaise hai?”
Jin replied calmly,
“Multi-talented.”
Time skip....
It was a regular day.
Yoonmin was playing on the mat, stacking blocks that she mostly knocked down herself.Taekook lay nearby, kicking his legs.Tae was sitting on the floor, pretending to build a tower.Jimin sat on the sofa, scrolling through her phone.
Kookie walked in from the corridor, carrying laundry.
She paused near the door.
“Yeh dono shaant kyun hain?” she asked casually.
At that exact moment—
Yoonmin looked up.Her eyes locked on Kookie. Her mouth opened.A small sound came out.Clear.Soft.Certain., “Maasi.”
The room went silent.Completely.
Tae blinked., “Did—”
“Wait,” Jimin whispered, standing up slowly.
Kookie froze too.She hadn’t reacted immediately.Like her brain hadn’t caught up yet.
Yoonmin looked again.Saw Kookie still standing there. And said it again.,“Maasi.”
“OH MY GOD.”
Jimin rushed forward.
“Usne bola—”
Suga nearly dropped his phone.
“Repeat that.”
Hobi clapped once without thinking.
“Arre wah!”
Jin pressed her hand to her chest.
“Yeh pehla shabd tha?”
Nam just stood there, stunned.
Tae turned slowly to look at Kookie.
She hadn’t moved. Her eyes were wide.
Her lips parted.
“Did… did she just call me that?” Kookie whispered.
Yoonmin crawled toward her.
Kookie dropped the laundry instantly and sat on the floor. She held Yoonmin’s face gently. Her voice shook—not dramatic, just overwhelmed.
“Baby… can you say it again? canyou say Maasi....??”
Yoonmin stared.Thought for a second.
Then smiled., “Maasi.”
The room exploded.
Jimin laughed and cried at the same time.
“Yeh galat hai!.... Logo ke bchcho ka first word maa ya papa hota hai.... Aur iska dekho.... first time bola voh bhi maasi”
Suga rubbed his face.,“First word.”
Hobi jumped.,“I knew it!”
Jin hugged Namjoon tightly.,“Yeh pal…”
Nam nodded, eyes wet.,“Sabse pyara.”
Kookie hugged Yoonmin tightly.
“I love you so much,” she cried.
“So so much.”
Yoonmin giggled, proud of herself.
Taekook made a small sound.Yoonmin leaned over., “Eh.”
Kookie laughed through tears.
“She’s telling him— maasi meri hai.”
Taekook, lying nearby, kicked his legs. Made a soft cooing sound. As if agreeing.
Six Months Later —
Taekook was now around nine months old.
Yoonmin walked—wobbly but confident.
The house had adjusted again. That evening, Jimin and Kookie sat on the bed in Taekook’s room.Taekook slept between them. The lights were dim. They were whispering.
“ab aagye ka kya plan hai?” Jimin asked.
Kookie sighed.
“Dekhte hain. Abhi toh bas rest.”
Taekook stirred.Made a soft sound.
Kookie leaned forward.,“Uth gaya kya?”
Then—A tiny murmur, Soft, Unclear.
But recognizable.,“Mumma.”
Both froze.Jimin’s eyes widened.
Kookie looked at her.“Did he—”
Taekook murmured again in his sleep.
“Mumma.”
Kookie covered her mouth.
Jimin’s breath hitched.
“Oh my god.”
They didn’t scream.Didn’t rush.
They just sat there—staring at him.
Kookie whispered,
“He… he called me mumma.”
Jimin nodded, tears rolling silently.
“Haan.”
They both laughed quietly, afraid to wake him.
Jimin stood up slowly and opened the door.
“suga,” she whispered urgently.
Suga appeared instantly.“Kya hua?”
Jimin pointed.“He said it.”
Suga leaned in.
Taekook sighed in his sleep.“Mumma.”
Suga’s jaw dropped.
“…Well,” he said softly,
“Guess it runs in the family.”
Soon everyone gathered—quiet, careful, emotional.
Jin wiped her tears.
“Pehla shabd.”
Tae stood behind Kookie, hands on her shoulders.
He didn’t say anything.Just kissed her head.
That night, both babies slept peacefully.
Yoonmin slept with her hand on her brother’s chest.Taekook slept peacefully.
Kookie watched them, heart full.
“They have each other,” she whispered.
Tae wrapped an arm around her.
“And we have you.”
These two weren’t just cousins. They were growing up together. rooted in love.
